THURSDAY JUNE 12 at Midway Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 7:00 pm.
Nancy Ruppert has been beekeeping for over a quarter of a century and has been a State Apiary Inspector for over a decade!
Knowing what she does about our current situation here in Ashe County, Nancy will be talking about "Rebuilding Your Apiary" and how that works for the average beekeeper!
Nancy has been active in beekeeping since the last century, when she took her first beekeeping class in early 1999, and maintains a few small apiaries in Montgomery County, NC.
Nancy was an apiary inspector for the NC Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services for 11 ½ years, working primarily in south-central/southeastern North Carolina, until she retired in early 2022. She came out of retirement in early 2023 to work part-time for Beez Needz, where bees and a wide variety of related equipment are sold in northern Randolph County, NC. Her primary apiary interests are pest and disease management, honey bee stress mitigation, and honey bee nutrition.
Nancy has been a registered nurse since the 1980’s, and worked for almost 20 years as a family nurse practitioner before changing to a less stressful occupation as apiary inspector. She still maintains an active North Carolina RN license.
